This is Jonathan Taylor Thomas' first big screen
appearance and a good one at that. He plays Ben
Archer, A boy whose parents divorced when he
was very young. He stayed with his mother and
enjoys a special relationship with her, but things
are disrupted when her boyfriend Jack (Chevy
Chase) moves in to thier apartement. Ben is not
happy with this invasion and so sets to to work on
getting Jack to leave. He decides to get them to
join the Indian- guides. A sad group of father and
sons who play indian together. He reckons that
Jack will get sick of it and leave, but Jack figures
it out and tries to beat him at his own game. As
they continue going together, they start to actually
enjoy it and get on.
However,
Jack,
who is an
Attourney,
is being
chased by
the son
of
someone he put away. He misses a trip with Ben when they cut
his brake leads and make him crash his car into the bay. Jack
doesn't want to worry Ben and so keeps this secret, but then
Ben doesn't swallow his excuse and is seriously put out. Ben is
forced on to another trip with Jack, where he tries to sort out
their problems. All his attempts fail, but then the worsed
happens and his would-be murderers finally capture him. Ben
tries to help him out, but fails and it seems that they will both be killed. But the rest of the Indian
guides show up and together they capture the bad-guys. When Ben found out the real reason Jack
missed the fishing trip, he forgave his step-dad. He has finally
accepted Jack, who marries his mom in atraditional Disney
happy ending.
Being a tv veteran, Taylor handles this role superbly. It is
another one of those Disney, lighthearted feel-good movies. The
amazing mix of heart warming feeling, comedy and action make
this a tremendous comedy for the whole family to enjoy!
